It is all about the senseless and meaningless death of George Floyd. He was a lone and helpless black man apparently killed by white cops in a peaceful arrest in a supposed non-violent crime. Most shockingly, it happened at a time when the world is supposed to be moving towards the general direction of tolerance, understanding, and equality. What happened is dreadful beyond imagination. George Floyd is black and he died due to methods that are perceived to have been deliberately inflicted by white police officers. Arrested for an alleged non-violent crime, he suffered a gruesome death. While Floyd’s and the cops' skin colors may have not have been a factor in the way they treated one another, the line being used by protested strongly surmise otherwise. He was lying on his belly, hands cuffed behind him, pinned by three white officers with one using his body weight and knee to pin his neck to the pavement. He was begging that the knee be released, that he cannot breathe, but...

On May 5, 2020 , the Nasdaq 100 Futures fell by 0.8% and eventually leveled off at 0.4% after reports came out that Donald Trump is preparing an executive order that will threaten IT businesses, including Facebook, Twitter, and Google.  According to reports, the Trump EO will command a review of a controversial law that spares tech companies from liabilities brought about by comments, videos and posts of multimedia users in their web platforms. The existing law, known as Section 230 , allows tech companies to police their own ranks without fear of lawsuits. Making the tech companies (like Facebook) liable for content posted by billions of users will have a tremendous effect in the way current business is being practiced. I believe that 2 meters are not sufficient enough to keep the corona virus from a host to another person. On a windy a cough or sneeze can easily send droplets several meters away and infect more than one other person.  I suggest that the government reviews this part of the public guidelines and issue a revision.  Covid19 isn't like SARS. It seems quite determined to stay.

In some countries, like Japan, it may be normal to see people going about their business while wearing face masks. There are, however, countries where the face mask is frowned upon if the one wearing it is in perfect health. In this time of Corona, wearing face masks and other protective devices had become a fashion trend. Rightfully so! Covid19 can travel on air for several meters as aerosol droplets and infect people. So other than face masks and social (physical distancing), may I recommend that you stay home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, if possible.  Doing so will protect you from getting infected and will also keep others from being infected by you. Please bear in mind that a lot of infected people are asymptomatic.

The Chinese in all its arrogance, continuously sent ships in the disputed islands and harassed the Philippine fishermen and inferior Navy. However, as soon as the American vessels came, they all left. Diplomacy, perhaps, is not the language that everyone understands. The correct language, I think, is force. It never fails to get things done.

Yes, it's almost a large scale outbreak with more than 100 people in China getting infected and a handful of deaths. I don't really know how an outbreak is officially defined but I am almost sure that the word is something that most governments would use only at the last moment. Why? It is because an outbreak or an epidemic would mean close scrutiny of people traveling in and out of the infected area. In extreme cases, an epidemic or outbreak also means a quarantine which would surely have a negative effect on the economy.

Now, there's this NoKor leader who seems to have replaced the rhetorical soviets. In the Philippines, authorities once seized terrorist speedboats that could outrun any of the Philippine Coast Guards vessels. In Mali, a former US diplomat claims that $15 million in ransom paid by France finances Al Qaeda's current activity. The terror group became so powerful that it took the intervention of France and neighboring countries to save the country from getting overrun. Don't pay ransoms-- NEVER!

In India, it seems that at least a few men have not heard the outcry over the gang rape of a young woman who later died. That is because the same modus operandi was repeated by the same number of people. A lady by her lonesome, boarded a bus at night and the driver and conductor drove her to an abandoned building where they were joined by 4 more men. The lady was gang raped repeatedly and was let off the following morning. Like the prior rape incident, the rapists were caught and I hope that they too will suffer the backlash brought about by the first case.

Those of us who are on diet can benefit a lot from the use of portion control plates . The beautifully decorated plates informs people just exactly how much food they are about to eat or have just consumed. Of course, the use of the plates will not guarantee a weight loss. The plates will not stop people from getting 2 nd , 3 rd or 4 th servings!

The French military launched a rescue mission in Somalia and the president has admitted its failure. Jets bombarded Somalian pirate positions while commandos stormed the pirates' lair. Official accounts say that the hostage died together with a commando while another soldier is missing. The French military also attacked Islamic rebels in Mali to help the government. As a a result, the police is ever vigilant back home due to fears of suicide bombings.

In Great Britain, radio dj’s called a hospital as a prank. They pretended to be the Queen and her husband and asked about Princess Catherine who was confined there at that time. The nurse didn’t notice anything and proceeded to reveal details about the pregnant princess. A day or two later, the nurse was found dead in an apparent suicide. Whether it was the nurse’s suicide or not, it was not right for anyone to have made such a prank on the unsuspecting nurse. Making unsuspecting medical professional reveal confidential patient information is a big NO and could end one’s career. People should be very responsible about this kind of things.

Last year, I bought my first superb Ibanez Guitars at Musicians friend and I have never been so happy. The sound is sooo good that during my next visit to their website, I decided to order another one. In the latest Gaza conflict, it seems to me that analysts were correct in predicting that the Hamas would emerge stronger and victorious. The group is now emerging as one who dared and succeeded in scaring Israel. It also seems that their pronouncements include claims that Israel begged them for a ceasefire. While militarily, Israel may have had the upper hand, psychologically and politically, Hamas won. Military battles, indeed, do not dictate the outcome of wars.

As an aftermath of the powerful hurricane that devastated New York, a paper reports that New York Mayor Bloomberg and US president Barrack Obama are under scrutiny. Do we need to mention such an obvious fact? During times of calamity, incumbent leaders are judged depending on their actions to address the situation. Those who hesitate and decides lousily will be soundly criticized and if the election day is quite close, the outcome of the voting exercise might be solely decided based on the actions done during the calamity.

Just got back from watching Bond. The movie was very good but not as breath taking as the previous where the same Daniel Craig did some parkour stunts. It was excellent overall but there were some conversations that dragged for a bit. And since I watched it late at night, I almost dozed of in a couple of parts.

In a couple of months, kids will be preparing for their high school prom and a lot of people will be at a loss on what to wear. It’s a good think that people can find Sydneys Closet prom dresses and other quality items in specialty shops that sell and/ or rent out such products. Proms are important in people’s lives. I, myself know that events like that will never be forgotten and therefore has to be made memorable.

Yesterday, I saw an ad for ammunition designed to stop zombies. Just now, I realized, Zombie movies are very popular together with other end of the world movies. Is this because the Mayan calendar ends this year?
